Participant Feedback & Course Journey

Compilation of participant expectations and practical evaluations in the HippoCampus style (English version).

Reference 1 – Part A: Expectations & Rider Profile (Danielle)

Attended Activity: Psychomotorics of the Independent Seat (Date: 12.10.2019)

Motivation & Background prior to the course:
Learning a better posture and an independent seat. As a calm, competition-oriented rider (highest level Z1, currently 1 horse in M1 and one in B, plus 2 newly backed horses) I own multiple horses. One of them reacts very sensitively to the smallest mistakes or changes in my posture – here I hoped to learn to react better and recognize my mistakes.

Strengths & Areas for Improvement as a Rider:
Strength: Looking for the mistake in myself.
Area for improvement: Not thinking too much, just riding.

Expectations & Goals in advance:
Tips on how to react correctly without overthinking, improving balance, stabilizing the seat, and taking home informative material and practical tips.

Reference 1 – Part B: Evaluation & Practical Experience (Danielle)

Attended Activity: Psychomotorics of the Independent Seat (Date: 12.10.2019)

General Assessment: Very educational with great tips

Personal Takeaway & Practical Transfer:
Understanding the major impact of one's posture on the horse and developing a more conscious everyday feel for seat and aids.

Key Insight during the Course:
Valuable insights, including muscle training and targeted posture corrections.

Additional Remarks:
Posture in practice is less black-and-white than pure theory often suggests.

Warm regards, Danielle

Reference 2 – Part A: Expectations & Rider Profile (Judith)

Attended Activity: Posture and Seat Workshop (Date: 02.10.2019)

Motivation & Background prior to the course:
I want to improve my riding skills so I hinder my horse less while riding. After lessons on Jolly Joker, I noticed how much influence my posture and seat have on my horse's ability to function properly. I mainly hack out on my 11-year-old French Trotter and try to gymnasticize him while doing so. I notice that I easily tense up in my body when riding.

Strengths & Areas for Improvement as a Rider:
Strength: Having a lot of patience and always trying to reason from the horse's perspective.
Area for improvement: Making improvements in posture and seat to create a solid foundation so that I hinder the horse less and become clearer in my aids.

Expectations & Goals in advance:
Gaining a lot of knowledge and expertise about riding posture and seat, and building a good foundational basis to continue working with at home.

Reference 2 – Part B: Evaluation & Practical Experience (Judith)

Attended Activity: Posture and Seat Workshop (Date: 02.10.2019)

General Assessment: Very educational

Personal Takeaway & Practical Transfer:
A completely new perspective on posture, seat, and rider aids, as well as a clearer picture and feel of what to work towards to better accompany my horse in its movements.

Key Insight during the Course:
The posture exercise on the lunge line to experience the feeling of the correct position and feel how much influence this has on the horse's movement! This gives you an idea of what to ‘search’ for and what to pay attention to when sitting on a horse.

Warm regards, Judith
